Ideas for Improving Bangalore & Traffic in india in general

Hi,
As a concerned Bangalorean I thought of starting a blog where I could write ideas which might be practical to improve Bangalore Traffic.
Without much Ado & to start with :

  • Petrol pumps are used by many to tresspass & circumvent traffic snarls at signals or junctions. Cameras should be installed at petrol pumps and offenders should be fined a considerable amount as they put lives of other road users at risk.
  • Bike & Car users not using both mirrors.
  • Merging into lanes forcibly creating a zipper effect. Such driving needs to be discouraged by installing cameras at junctions and making sure number plates of offending vehicles are captured.
  •  One idea would be to have a number on the top of the cars or side of the car as well so that Traffic cameras can pick up the numbers in the dense Bangalore traffic.
  • People involved in major accidents should be grounded from driving for at least 1 hour. Information on the drivers distance driven and Medical state should be recorded. Whether the person had consumed alcohol or had a health condition which impaired him from driving responsibly has to be recorded.

& one for the highway....

  • Blind spot mirrors to be made mandatory & installed in all cars by car manufacturers.
  • Government should ask Car manufacturers to not sell cars which have extreme low mileage (SUVs or any car for that matter). This decreases the drag on the fuel  consumption in the big picture.
  • Fuel consumption per person to be catalogued using Adhar card.
  • Trucks should be checked for possible Blind spots due to lack of strategically placed mirrors. Below image can give a fair idea of things to cover for the RTO person.
