This post highlights some items which I feel can avoid some horrific accidents/deaths.
As usual this post is laden with ideas more for the Highway than Bangalore Traffic but still....;-)
I hope some sane soul from the RTO department reads these and implements them some day saving lives.
1. Overloaded Lorrys need to be checked & fined. Also barred from plying further until the overloading is reduced.
2. Blinding lights on Highways can cause virtual blind spot for drivers on the opposite lane.
this is a perennial problem even for people inside City traffic zones. This needs to be regulated by thorough surprise checks. A fine + a Blinder black spot on the head lamp could be applied on the spot.
LED lights which cause blindness need to be reported and the vehicle should be impounded. (where will the politicians go after this ;-) since its they who abuse the basic driving courtesies they ought to have for fellow motorists.)
3. Rear seat belt to be made mandatory for people plying on the National Highways.
4. Reflective stickers for illuminating the outlines of motor vehicles.
So that the motorists from the opposite side can judge the outlines even on a highway.
5. Mandatory Florescent lined jackets for all highway drivers/motorists passing through Toll areas (since they might step on the gas on a well maintained road). This can be made mandatory along with the Insurance purchase/renewal of the Automobile.
